Sugarloaf Mountain and Secret Lake

Hike

This was a mashup of two hikes. I was originally planning on doing just the Secret Lake and Sugarloaf Mountain loop (first link), but it cost $6 to park up there so I started at the bottom of the Albion Basin (second link).  I ain’t afraid of an extra few miles, especially through a pretty meadow.

Drink

Today I drank Mango Keel Session IPA from Ballast Point. This beer normally is a bit too hoppy for my tastes, but after a long, steep hike in the sun the mango flavor really came through. I finished one and wanted another.

Albion Basin
Albion Basin with Sugarloaf Mountain in the top right corner. Straight ahead is Devil’s Castle. It probably would have only taken me a half hour or so to go up there from Sugarloaf, but I figured I would save it for another weekend. I am surrounded by hundreds of hiking trails, but I like to think I’ll have more weekends than hikes in years to come.
Closer View of Sugarloaf
Getting closer. I am not sure when the lift runs, but you can get some incredible views from the top of the lift. Still have to hike if you want to get to the peak.
Beer On Top of Sugarloaf
Beer on top of Sugarloaf Mountain. That is Twin Peaks in the background on the right. They are on my list…
