This was a mashup of two hikes. I was originally planning on doing just the Secret Lake and Sugarloaf Mountain loop (first link), but it cost $6 to park up there so I started at the bottom of the Albion Basin (second link). I ain’t afraid of an extra few miles, especially through a pretty meadow.
Today I drank Mango Keel Session IPA from Ballast Point. This beer normally is a bit too hoppy for my tastes, but after a long, steep hike in the sun the mango flavor really came through. I finished one and wanted another.
Albion Basin with Sugarloaf Mountain in the top right corner. Straight ahead is Devil’s Castle. It probably would have only taken me a half hour or so to go up there from Sugarloaf, but I figured I would save it for another weekend. I am surrounded by hundreds of hiking trails, but I like to think I’ll have more weekends than hikes in years to come.Getting closer.
